Mystique. Amorphous. Transcendent.

Abstracting the essence of metaphysical movement into a participatory art installation with a different perception of reality. Taking inspiration from some iconic italian elements juxtaposed with the notion of modernity. The process began by referencing paintings like “The Disquieting Muses” by Giorgio de Chirico to design with a muted colour scheme and depicting a sense of expectation and mystery in a strange illogical context. The installation consists of four floors with a spiralling staircase that emulates the idea of a non-existent horizon.

The Odd sea.

Walking in through the veil, a chessboard floor portraying a dramatic event of the king losing the war is observed. Life-size chess coins enhance the experience of a mundane game. This is connected with elements of water and a depiction of water on the ceiling - a play of illogical alternation in reality.

Solitude.

Ascending the staircase, the vision of an eventless scene illustrating silence welcomes the observer. This scene is counteracted with fabric baffles swaying to make the static scene dynamic. Dual swings are suspended from the third level engaging the observers.

Delirium.

A person’s subconscious explodes into a dream-like scenario featuring the greek god -Apollo’s statue colliding into the column, resulting in a sense of lul. Birds are aligned along the periphery as functional steps leading to the floating cloud seaters.

Timeless.

This scene shows a submerged hourglass that plays in tandem with the mirror-like ceiling representing ‘infinity’. Inverted roman buildings add a classic italian touch with a spiralling stairacase leading to nowhere.
